Under Eye Concealer Journey

The path to that perfect glowing healthy under eye has had most of us plowing through Sephora on a concealer hunt and spending a nice chunk of our paycheck faster than one can spell Ulta. Some are lucky enough to find something that works for their skin right away and some just get lost in the land of worthless makeup and continue walking around like tired pandas (happens to the best of us).

I wanted to share my two current favorites as I can finally say I have found my holy grails!!

I have combination skin with mild rosacea in some areas which does get very dry in the colder months, my under eye area gets puffy in the morning and my dark circles are blue/black in color. My main goal has been finding a concealer that DOES NOT CREASE. To prep the area, I either let the puffiness go down on its own or use the Clinique All About Eye Serum which helps so much, then I apply my under eye cream (see “Current Skincare Routine post). The two concealers I currently live by are the Chanel Correcteur Perfection and It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Anti-Aging Concealer. The Chanel concealer is liquid and very thin but buildable, I love that it does not crease and I usually use it for everyday looks. It was recommended to me by my best friend Grace, it does help to have a bf who is a pro MUA!! You can check out her digital IG portfolio @facesbygrace or email her at facesbygraced@gmail.com

The It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Anti-Aging Concealer is a new baby I just discovered, the staying power on this one is like no other! The consistency is more of a thicker cream and a little goes a long way. I typically stay away from anything that has shimmer already mixed into it as I wouldn’t want that smeared all under my eye but this is different. It has a hint of glow that really does give that illuminating look without being too much. To finish off and set my concealer I use either the Benefit Hello Flawless Powder Foundation in “Ivory” or the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. Use Benefit if you want a clean matte finish and the Laura Mercier powder if you want a super fabulous healthy glow.
