I love you so Macha!!

So, I am sure by now most of us have heard of or at least seen these very potent, green looking drinks carried around by the occasional hipster in the city streets or girl/guy just returning from their weekly yoga session and wondered what exactly that could be…The quick answer would be Matcha Green Tea and this benefit packed all star is finally getting the recognition and credit it so very much deserves! It typically comes in a very fine powder form as it is straight stone ground tea leaves, since the entire leaf is used the health benefits are also multiplied. It is an antioxidant powerhouse, with 1 cup of matcha equalling to 10 cups of standard leaf green tea. Some other benefits are boosting metabolism and burning calories, it’s richness in fiber and chlorophyll, vitamin C, zinc, selenium and magnesium and many other cancer fighting properties! On top of all this, it literally gives me more of an energy boost than any type of coffee I’ve ever had with no caffeine crash later in the day. I love making hot matcha lattes at home, it is so easy and you will know exactly what you are ingesting. My two other favorites are iced matcha teas; and simply adding a scoop or two to my green shakes in the morning. The green shake option literally kills two birds with one stone, you are drinking your green smoothie as well as getting that much needed wake up call all at the same time! So, stop being intimidated by this green goblin of a drink once and for all and try the super easy recipe below!
